Understanding the basics of GPSR and our app.

What is the EU GPSR and why does it matter for my Shopify store?

The General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR 2023/988) is an EU regulation effective since December 2024. It requires all products sold to EU consumers to display manufacturer information, and for non-EU products, a designated EU responsible person. Non-compliance can result in marketplace delistings, fines, and blocked shipments.

Which products are affected by GPSR?

GPSR applies to all consumer products sold within the EU, whether manufactured inside or outside the EU. This includes physical goods offered online, in stores, or through marketplaces. Some product categories like food, medicinal products, and certain regulated goods have separate requirements.

What information must I display on products?

You must display: the manufacturer's name, registered trade name or trademark, and contact address. For products from outside the EU, you need an EU-based responsible person with their name and contact details. Additionally, product identifiers like batch/lot numbers or serial numbers for traceability.

What entity types can I create in the app?

You can create three entity types: Manufacturers (the company that produced the product), Responsible Persons (EU-based entities designated for non-EU manufacturers), and Importers (companies that bring products into the EU market). Each entity stores complete contact information including address, email, phone, and website.

How do I assign entities to products?

Three ways: Individual (open product, select entities), Bulk editing (Basic plan - select multiple products, assign at once), or Automation rules (Pro plan - auto-assign based on vendor, type, or tags).

Can I add safety warnings?

Yes! Add P-statements (precautionary) and H-statements (hazard) from GHS/CLP, plus custom warnings. Hundreds of pre-translated statements in all 24 EU languages. Also add age restrictions and disposal instructions.

What about bulk operations?

With the Basic plan and above, you can select multiple products and assign entities/warnings in bulk. The Pro plan adds automation rules for automatic assignment based on vendor, product type, or tags.

How does the storefront widget work?

After assigning compliance data, the GPSR Widget block displays this info on your product pages. Add it via the theme editor - no code needed. It automatically shows the correct language based on your store's locale.

Security & data

How we handle and protect your information.

Is my data secure?

Yes. We use Shopify's secure OAuth authentication, encrypt sensitive data at rest, and store compliance data in Shopify's native metafields. We never share your data with third parties.

What data does the app access?

We access: product information (for compliance assignment), shop details (for plan management), and metafields (for compliance data storage). We do not access customer data or payment information.

Technical questions

Implementation and troubleshooting.

Why isn't the widget showing on my storefront?

Check: 1) The GPSR Widget block is added to your product template in the theme editor, 2) The product has compliance data assigned, 3) The theme is published. Clear cache if needed.

Can I customize the widget appearance?

Yes! Use the widget settings to adjust layout (default, compact, accordion, tabs), colors, and visibility. Pro plans can remove branding and add custom CSS.

How does data sync work?

When you save compliance data, it's immediately synced to Shopify metafields. The widget reads from these metafields, so updates are typically visible within seconds.

What's the difference between plans?

FREE: 5 entities, 50 products, basic widget. BASIC: Unlimited entities/products, bulk editing, branding removal. PRO: Automation rules, geo-targeting, batch generator. ENTERPRISE: API access, audit log, priority support.

Can I upgrade or downgrade anytime?

Yes! Upgrade instantly through the Settings page. Downgrades take effect at the end of your billing cycle. Your data is always preserved.

Do you offer refunds?

We follow Shopify's standard billing policies. Contact us within 48 hours of purchase if you're not satisfied, and we'll work with you on a solution.
